Canon Character Section
Physical Description: Helena is 23 years old with long, dark hair, brown eyes, and relatively pale skin (she's not often out in the sunlight). She is in peak physical condition and is rather muscular for a woman -- it's often hidden by her business suits in her 'mundane' life, but Helena is rather broader in her upper body than a housewife should be. On top of her muscular build, being a vigilante has left Helena with quite a few scars. Her mask and costume shield her a bit, but she has many thin white lines threading across her arms, legs and torso; mostly in the front, as her cape gives her back a bit more protection. The only really noteworthy scar is the trio of bullet wounds cratered into her stomach. They're faded silver and not new, but they're raised and very noticeable if she leaves her midriff exposed.

Sexuality: Helena's only canon relationship in this universe has been her loveless marriage. That said, she is Roman Catholic to the core and, while she's more interested in punishing actual crime, rather than "crimes" of sexuality, she doesn't have much/any interest in women.

History: AU character

Helena Bertinelli's family was (and probably still is) heavily involved with the mafia because her father was the leader of one of the clans. Key word is was, though, because both of Helena's parents were killed right in front of her while she hid in a closet when one of her father's underlings, Mandragora, decided that he wanted to move up in the world. That event, actually, is the main reason why the Huntress was born. Ironically enough, it's also the reason why the Huntress was expelled from the League.

The revenge-driven nature of Helena's vigilante career meant that the moment she got a chance to, Huntress tracked down and attacked Mandragora in the hopes of avenging her parents. Unlike in the DCAU canon, she never teamed up with the Question. Rather, she hunted down Mandragora on her own and killed him the moment she could line up a shot. Thing is, the moment he fell, his son came screaming and crying towards his body and Helena suffered a little bit of a mental break because she had just killed someone's father.

The cycle could never end.

With that in mind, she became more vicious, deciding that since she was damned anyway, she'd clear out the filth from Gotham and by god, she was going to do it right. None would be spared her terrible judgement.

The next day, Helena Bertinelli swept into the homes of the Family and declared that she was open to taking suitors. No one in their right mind would turn down the chance to connect themselves with the last Bertinelli. By day, Helena was courted and eventually married to the one of the most powerful men in the mafia. Meanwhile, the Huntress swept through Gotham by night, vicious and powerful.

With direct information on the mafia's activities, it didn't take very long for her to start striking fear in the people of Gotham's underworld. Stories started popping up about men crucified to their walls by crossbow bolts, about a dark woman with horns on her head and the cross emblazoned on her chest. When she heard the stories her husband spouted, she laughed, kissed her husband on the cheek and told him not to worry.

He was killed by The Huntress two months after their first and only child was born.

People whispered was that Helena looked so very beautiful in black with her baby boy in her arms. What a sadness that God would take both her family and then her husband. But Helena smiled even as she cried crocodile tears. With her position as a "powerless widow" secure, she could start taking more decisive action. Soon the Huntress could burn out the families bit by bit... or she would have, had she not been taken into Baedal.

The night of the funeral, Helena came back from patrol early to care for Benito, closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them, she was in Baedal.

Powers: None.

Talents/Abilities:: Helena is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter and a crack-shot with a crossbow. She also speaks fluent Italian and has quite a lot of knowledge about how the Mafia functions.

Personality: Helena was and is shaped by her mafia upbringing and the death of her parents more than she lets on. For one, she's fiercely loyal to the people she considers 'hers' (and at some level, she considers the population of Gotham to be hers, especially the children) and will stop at nothing to take down those who would hurt them. She also has a very strict moral code, which doesn't cover very much at all aside from "Protect the innocent" and "Kick ass when someone's doing bad stuff". That is, Huntress goes a step beyond what most other heroes might do in order to do what she thinks is right, a true vigilante, rather than a superhero. She has no compunctions about using sex or torture to get her way, and killing is fine as long as it takes out the bad guys.

If you extrapolate on this idea, Huntress's method of dealing with issues is to force her way through the quickest path and to hell with the consequences. She's headstrong, stubborn and very opinionated. If you're working with her, you'll let her call her own shots or you can get out. She can play well with others, but she's got a wide independent streak and in the end, she really only trusts herself to get the job done. If you get in her way, she'll knock you out and leave you behind.

This isn't to say that Helena is a loner in all things. She's sometimes a little aloof from strangers, but she generally does like people. She won't shy away from conversation or interaction and actually, she's pretty playful, always quick with a comeback and openly flirtatious when the occasion is right. She does have a sharp temper, though, and is sometimes easily offended, especially when discussing hot button issues (eg: her method of crime-fighting). This is probably why she gets along best with children, since they tend not to ask the hard (and annoying) questions.

Object: Her rosary. She's also carrying her weapons and her baby.

Reason for playing: Mostly I just want to play with this AU version of Huntress in Baedal. It's a very different environment here, and if she's

Gods:

Eliandre, because Helena hunts down criminals and deals justice to them as she sees fit
Gediron, because Helena is a vigilante who doesn't stop even with the League against her
Shada, because Helena is a mother and also completely unafraid of her own sexuality
Vell, because Helena's entire life is based on tragedy and revenge

Rundas may also be interested in Helena, but only to an extent. Helena doesn't gamble, but when she's on the streets, she's highly dependent on luck to keep her alive.
